Sanctuary Services

Welcome to this new Adventure in Worship

The roots of this idea goes back 12 years to when the common type of worship experience in this country was "traditional" and "contemporary." Sometimes this worked and sometimes it caused conflict. Back when we began our 3-service format we were not ready for a new approach, thus our 3 services were essentially the same. Then we began to explore "blended worship." What has emerged in our recent years is a new approach which highlights the best of our Christian Heritage and our Reformed traditions, while is still open to the leading of the Holy Spirit for the Future.

Three Services, One Voice

The shorter catechism declares, "What is man's chief end? Man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever." (from the shorter Catechism - Westminster Confession of Faith) Whatever we do during all of our Sunday services will be connected in the following ways:
  • The theme of the message - or sermon
  • Prayers
  • Creeds
  • Some music
  • Vision Statement

What is Ancient?

We are part of the reformed family, which includes at its center, "The proclamation of the Word and the Sacraments rightly administered." In addition, from the Confessions, there is a rich heritage of Christian faith. We are a confessional church!

Another aspect is prayer. All of our prayer is shaped by the prayer which Jesus taught us - The Lord's Prayer.

Music - There is some music which has stood the test of time and can be used throughout all of the services.

What is Future?

  • The wise use of technology to enrich our understanding of the Gospel.
  • The best use of new music to invite participation and celebration.
  • The use of drama from time to time.
  • Interaction with the congregation.
  • Interactive prayer from time to time, and an updated version of the Lord's prayer.

Our Goal

Our goal is to create a distinctive worship experience which is unique for everyone through:
  • Families worshiping together
  • Intergenerational experiences
  • High-touch and High-tech
  • All worship that compliments our shared experience, because...

We are a family of faith called to celebrate God's message of love and forgiveness in Jesus Christ. Guided by the living Word of God, we nurture one another through worship, prayer, teaching and fellowship. Led by the Holy Spirit, we reach out with hearts and hands to those in need, seeking to inspire hope in an ever-changing community and world.
