Overview of Program:

The Local Mission Committee seeks to share the Good News of Christ’s saving grace by providing food for the hungry; housing for the homeless; medical care for the ill; counsel for the troubled through direct assistance or through Christian agencies that support those in need and those less fortunate within this community and the greater Detroit Presbytery.

The FPCP Thrift Shop collects and sells gently-used clothing and household goods at very low prices and donates its proceeds to a variety of Christian missions.

Ministry focus:

The Local Mission Committee feeds the hungry and homeless by preparing meals at Crossroads and supporting the Open Door Ministry of Fort Street Presbyterian Church in Detroit; provides clothing and food for the homeless at Trinity Episcopal in Detroit; provides medical care for the indigent through Hope Medical Center; provides counsel for the troubled through Samaritan Counseling; provides pregnancy counseling through AAA Crisis Pregnancy Center; provides respite for worried families through Ronald McDonald House in Detroit; provides housing through Habitat for Humanity; provides food and financial assistance through the Salvation Army and United Way;  provides educational opportunities through Barnabus Youth Opportunity Center, the Penrickton Center for Blind Children and Young Life and Spring Hill Camps; provides emergency financial assistance to members of our church in financial need.
